Dear fellow jeppa dudes,

I have BIG problem, my "new" 2006 Pajero broke down. The car has only ca 65 thousand km, and was supposed to be in very good condition. So not sure what has happened... There has been problem shifting between 2H and 4H, not sure if this is related.

DRIVE and REVERSE is now suddenly not working properly on the automatic transmission. Thought first some electrical sensor problems, and tried gear shifting several time and did some driving, but car behaved really bad. Finally looked under the car and saw the red oil everywhere under. Probably most on right hand side, and when I looked today it had also seeped out through the wheel hub (the breakdown happened saturday)

Where in Reykjavik / Hafnafjordur area is best todo repair for such problems? (car is currently on a side road in Hafnafjordur)

Anyone have had similar problems?

Thank you :)

Greetings from Gard

It looks like a corroded transmission line, It usually happens right next to the radiator. Almost any proper garage should be able to fix this for you.
If you are lucky you haven't damaged the transmission.

Thank you for the tip about transmission line, got it checked at Mekka in Gardabær, turned out it was a broken rubber hose on this line. Car is repaired and works fine now, just hope nothing is damaged in gearbox, so will try to monitor the color of the oil often now!

The gearbox is currently filled with Dexron compatible fluid. Does anyone use this on the MMC auto-gearboxes, or is it recommended to switch to another type of fluid?

Jeep buddies seems like a very good idea ;-) Is it any "jeep teams" in Reykjavik area who wants a new member? Please contact me!

After repairing the transmission line, the car has worked fine, have often checked the ATF oil color + level. Looks good!

A friend was visiting and we had two great trips, one along south-east side of Skorradalsvatn and up F508, then the other trip was north of Eyjafjallajøkul and Myrdalsjøkul along F261 and F210. Great scenery and great Jeppa-tracks, you are really blessed with beautiful nature (and tracks) here on Iceland!!!!
