Hi everyone,

I am trying to translate one technical paper from icelandic and cannot find two words:
Stífufestingar
stýrisarmur

they are some parts of a jeep, the document is about modifications to Nissan patrol to make it larger, higher and more icelandic :)

does anyone know what are these things in english, or at least describe it in detail, so i can find it out what part of a car it is?

Takk fyrir,

Joe

Stýrisarmur = pitman arm.

Stífufestingar;
Stífa = rod, trailing arm, control trailing arm, suspension arm .. e.t.c
festing = mount or bracket

Thus, stífufesting = rod bracket/mount, control arm bracket/mount, control arm bracket/mount, suspension arm bracket/mount.. depending on context.

I don't know exact English words at the time and some might laugh or bring better translation.

Stífufestingar could be explained as the axle-link fasteners. On Patrol this is probably referring to the front axle. Then this would describe how and where the axle is fastened to the chassis/frame.

Stýrisamrur is the where you connect to the steering box. (think it's called pitman arm)
The lower part of the picture or similar part down on the axle.

Why dont you send the whole text and we might translate?
